The Grande Prairie Fire Department recognized 32 individuals in 11 award categories as part of the Annual Awards and Medal Presentation.

The awards were presented individually and recognized long service to firefighting and outstanding contributions to fire services.

GPFD Awards

  • Firefighter of the Year: Landon Daigneault and Steph Garand
  • Dispatcher of the Year: Drew Anderson
  • Award of Merit: Amber Metcalf, Jodi Giesbrecht, Mia Gagnon, Kelsey Pientsch, Alaina McLeod, Taylor Beach, Julia Corcoran, and Jasmyn Kay
  • Award of Merit: Jodi Giesbrecht
  • Fire Chief Award: Jennifer Martin and Caylin Lewis
  • Community Service Award: Justin Davidson and Tahvo Laukkanen
  • Medal of Honor: Tahvo Laukkanen

Alberta Emergency Service Awards 

  • 12 Years of Service: Adam Leffingwell, Jason Heinz, Joran Wuttunee-Campbell, Josh Frey, Matt Elliot, Ricky Houweling, Justin Davidson, Josh Goulden, Tyler Leskiw
  • 22 Years of Service: Jamie LeBlanc, Jake Pruden
  • 32 Years of Service: Steve Larsen

Federal Fire Exemplary Services Medal

  • 20 Years of Service: Lee Clandinin, Leann Johnson, Rob Martin, Ryan Nash, Todd Russell
  • 30 Years of Service: Trevor Schwabe 

 

“The Grande Prairie Fire Department has an exceptional team focused on pride and professionalism. Our members provide firefighting, and fire prevention services to ensure the safety of our community” said Trevor Grant, Grande Prairie Deputy Chief Operations. “GP911 provides 911 call answer and Fire Dispatch for Northwestern Alberta and into Northeastern BC. These awards provide a venue for our members to be recognized for their outstanding efforts.”
