The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Services has issued a fire advisory for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley.

The advisory is in effect due to hot, dry conditions and little rain forecast over the long weekend. Residents with existing fire permits are advised not to burn until the area receives precipitation. Those who must burn should follow permit guidelines and safe burning practices, including always remaining on site until burning is complete.

Reminder, burning is never permitted when winds reach, or are forecasted to reach, 12 km per hour or higher.

Be vigilant when exploring back country locations across the County and respect the Fire Advisory in place for the provincial Grande Prairie Forest Area.

The County will continue to monitor weather conditions heading into the long weekend. Any updates will be posted at www.countygp.ab.ca/fireban.
