The Fair Deal Panel has created an online survey in hopes to gain more input from Albertans on how Alberta can best get a Fair Deal in Canada.

Oryssia Lennie, chair of the Fair Deal Panel, explains, “The Fair Deal Panel has already connected with thousands of Albertans through local engagement sessions, meetings, email and online. We know there are more who may have ideas to share. We encourage all Albertans to take this survey and make their voices heard on how we can best advance Alberta’s interests on the national stage.”

The Panel is "exploring ideas that give us a bigger voice within the federation, increase our power over areas of provincial jurisdiction, and advance our vital economic interests, such as building energy pipelines."

The survey is open to the public and available at alberta.ca/fair-deal-panel until March 15.

The Panel is also researching and consulting with policy experts. With this information and the results of the survey, they will compile and deliver a report to the government by March 31.

Premier Jason Kenney outlined the government's strategy to secure a fair deal for the province at the Manning Centre “What’s Next?” Conference on November 9, 2019.

Premier Kenney said, "Alberta has been by far the biggest contributing province to Canada in recent decades, and a huge engine for jobs and growth. But governments that have profited from our resources, hard work, and generosity now seem determined to pin us down and block us in.

“Albertans aren’t asking for a special deal. We’re just asking for a fair deal. And our government will do everything within our power to get it.”
