For Grande Prairie today,

Extreme wind chill values of -40 to -45 will continue to affect most of central and northern Alberta this morning.

Rising temperatures will bring an end to these extremely cold wind chills by this weekend.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.

If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.

For Dawson Creek and Fort St. John today:

A period of very cold wind chills continues this morning.

A cold arctic air mass has settled over northeastern B.C. Temperatures near minus 30 to 35 degrees celsius combined with light winds will generate wind chill values near -40 this morning.

Conditions are expected to moderate by this afternoon as temperatures rise.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables.
