Effective 7 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2020, the Emergency Department at the Devon General Hospital will be closed and no longer accepting patients.

This temporary closure will help protect the 14 long-term-care residents at the DGH, who are at heightened risk for severe illness if exposed to COVID-19. As well, 10 additional acute care beds at the DGH will be converted to long-term care beds at this time, providing additional temporary long-term care capacity within the Edmonton Zone.

The ED closure and bed conversion will remain in place for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Individuals who would normally seek emergency care at the DGH are advised to instead visit the Leduc Community Hospital, WestView Health Centre in Stony Plain, or the Misericordia Community Hospital in west Edmonton.
