Electronic Fare Collection Boxes Introduced In Transit Buses

Starting Monday, September 10, transit riders will see new, electronic fare collection boxes installed in
buses.

The electronic fare collection boxes are being installed for the introduction of a new, plastic re-loadable
electronic smart card known as the SUPERPASS which will replace paper passes and tickets. Reloading
fares onto the card can be done at any City facility or online using a credit card. All fare rates remain the
same.

The SUPERPASS is being introduced to modernize, innovate and improve the customer experience on
Grande Prairie Transit. It allows riders to simply tap-and-go to pay bus fare.

A registration feature is available for the SUPERPASS at superpass.cityofgp.com that offers added
benefits. By registering online or at a City facility, users can track their balance online anytime, purchase
new fares online with a credit card and cancel their card in the event it is lost or stolen.

Users can purchase a SUPERPASS now anywhere transit products are sold. The SUPERPASS comes
pre-loaded with either a monthly pass (valid for 31 days from the first day of use) or 10 rides. To re-load
the SUPERPASS with new fare, users can simply visit a participating City of Grande Prairie facility to
purchase new products to be added to their card or visit the registration website to re-load their fare
digitally with a credit card. Third party vendors will have the ability to reload the SUPERPASS in the
coming months.

All previously purchased paper tickets and passes will be honoured as forms of payment until December
31, 2018 but are no longer being sold. Beginning January 1, 2019 only the SUPERPASS and cash in the
form of coins will be accepted as forms of payment. A $3.00 admin fee is also being introduced in
January 2019 for the purchase of each SUPERPASS.
