Ecole Nouvelle Frontiere school has been placed under outbreak status by Alberta Health Services.

Schools are put on outbreak status when they have between five and nine cases of COVID-19.

A letter was sent to families on Feb. 2 notifying them of the situation. The school says that close contacts are being notified, and will be isolating until Feb. 12, returning to school on Feb. 16. At home learning is being provided.

In accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, no further information will be released about these cases.

For those who do not have to isolate, they can still attend school in person. Parents are reminded to go through the daily checklist for symptoms with their students, which is available online.

The school says in the letter, “The health and safety of our staff, students and community remains our first priority. We know this news can be distressing for families and supports are available. Please be assured we will work closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure we follow their ongoing recommendations.”

Hillcrest Christian School was also placed under outbreak status this week.

Other schools in the area on alert, with two to four cases, are Charles Spencer High School, Ecole Montrose School, Crystal Park School, St. Joseph Catholic High School, Roy Bickell Public School, Isabel Campbell Public School, Derek Taylor School, St. Kateri Catholic School and Whispering Ridge Community School.
