The first sitting member of Council has entered the 2021 election race. Today, Dylan Bressey announced the launch of his campaign for re-election. He is the first sitting member of Council to submit a Nomination Form to the City’s Returning Officer.

“Our next Council will have tough decisions in front of it. Coming out of an incredibly hard year, we have struggling families, businesses, non-profits, and individuals to support. And ballooning RCMP salary costs will put a huge strain on the City budget. At the same time, Grande Prairie has unique opportunities before it, including key pieces of land coming available for development. I hope to be at the table to help Council control costs while building a great community for our kids and grandkids.”

Bressey knows that Council is only effective when it works with the community. That is why the focus of his campaign will be on getting residents talking about our community. He’ll be knocking on doors and arranging coffee meetings to talk to people one-on-one. But he will also be hosting a series of Community Conversations to allow residents to talk to and hear from one another. There will be in person and virtual opportunities to attend these facilitated discussions. The first one will be July 15. Residents can learn more or RSVP at www.bressey.ca/conversations.

“Talking to our community was the focus of my last campaign, and it didn’t stop after the election. I continued writing about Council decisions, being active on social media, setting up coffee meetings, and hosting Community Conversations. Along the way, I’ve received lots of great feedback, perspectives, and ideas. As we approach an election, I look forward to even more people engaging in conversation about how to make Grande Prairie an even better community to live, work, play, and learn in.”

Dylan will be knocking on doors and attending community events to engage with as many people as possible. But he also welcomes residents reaching out to him to arrange a time to meet individually, or with a small group of colleagues or friends. He can be contacted at 780-402-4166 or dylan@bressey.ca.
