With the change in seasons often comes an increase in speeds on the roads, which is why speed is the traffic safety focus for April.

Recently, Grande Prairie Enforcement Services clocked drivers going 99 km/h and 91 km/h on 84 Avenue, which has a speed limit of 60 km/h.

Speeding contributes to a significant number of crashes across Alberta every year. With the warmer weather, we anticipate more traffic on the roads, making it even more important to pay attention to our speed and surroundings.

According to recent statistics, more than 26 per cent of drivers in fatal crashes in our province were reported as travelling at an unsafe speed compared to 7.6 per cent in injury collisions.

Let's work together to change this statistic and keep our roads safe for everyone.
