Want children who are patient, kind, humble, thankful, and respectful? Who have a good work ethic, strong character, and a healthy self-image?

Dr. Kevin Leman, an internationally known psychologist, Christian author and speaker recently released a new book,  8 Secrets to Raising Successful Kids: Nurturing Character, Respect, and a Winning Attitude, to help parents raise successful, faith-filled and respectful children.

"You can't force your kids to be grateful for everything you do, but you can raise successful, responsible kids who grow into adults you can be proud of," Dr. Leman explains.

In his book, he reveals eight no-nonsense strategies that build on the foundations of character, good behaviour, respect, discipline, and a winning attitude.

Dr. Leman says parents in Canada and the U.S. have a lot to learn when it comes to raising children.

"They're bringing up their kids to feel like they're the centre of the universe," says Dr. Leman. "If kids are the centre of the universe, where is room for the almighty God in that child's life? I can answer that question. There is no room for God in that child's life if the kid feels like they're the centre of the universe."

Today on Connections, Dr. Kevin Leman shares with us how we can change that mindset and raise successful, humble, thankful and respectful children.
