Alberta's total number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 5355 after 190 cases were reported during yesterday's provincial update.

5051 tests were carried out over a 24 hour period, with 148,937 having been administered in total.

The number of recoveries has also increased to 2161.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw also reported three additional deaths. One COVID-19 death was also reclassified after being determined to have not been caused by the virus, leaving the provincial total at 89.

544 cases have been confirmed at continuing care facilities.

Dr. Hinshaw also provided updates on two of the province's larger outbreaks, with 908 cases having been confirmed at the Cargill plant North of High River, and 333 cases at the JBS plant in Brooks.

631 recoveries have been confirmed among Cargill employees.

She says while AHS continues their efforts to prevent the spread of these larger outbreaks, most of the province has seen relatively low rates of infection.
