The City of Dawson Creek is rolling out COVID-19 strategies effective immediately.  The following memo was recently posted on the city's website.
_____

As you are aware, there is world wide concern regarding the novel coronavirus. Although the risk to British Columbians is currently low, the City of Dawson Creek shares in this concern and is, therefore, following the recommendations put forward by the British Columbia Office of the Provincial Health Officer.

These recommendations will affect all City facilities, those managed by the City as well as those managed/leased by other organizations. The current recommendation is to cancel gatherings that include over 250 people, including staff and/or volunteers and the public.

It is unfortunate that this direction requires cancellation of community events such as the annual spring skating carnival, but this decision was made in the best interests of the citizens of Dawson Creek. The City will limit the number of patrons currently allowed at one time within the South Peace Community Multiplex and the Memorial Arena will be closed to the public effective this afternoon until further notice.

The City is also requesting citizens to follow the recommendations from the BC Government advising against all non-essential travel. It is also suggested that those that have travelled out of the Country stay home from work or school for 14 days upon their return.
