Dante Bowe is sharing his powerful testimony, reflecting on his traumatic past, and looking at how far he has come by the grace of God.

Bowe is a Christian recording artist that has also been in a few well-known Christian worship bands, including Maverick City Music and Bethel Music.

"I just feel like I'm walking in the promises of God and all the things prophesied over me, by my grandma, my mom, my dad," says Bowe in a recent video interview with CBN News. "I just kind of feel like it's coming to fruition."

The worship music Bowe has been a part of helping release is inspired by his grandparents.

"I found myself asking God all the time, who am I? Not spiritually, like a son, I know and I'm chosen and called. Other than that, who am I practically to people? I don't understand my impact."

Bowe is making history as he is nominated as a solo artist for Grammy awards this year in both Gospel and Christian music categories, including:

  • Best Gospel Performance/Song twice for "Voice of God" and "Joyful";
  • Best Gospel Performance/Song for "Wait on You" with Elevation Worship & Maverick City Music;
  • Best Gospel Album with Maverick City Music for "Jubilee: Juneteenth Edition"; and
  • Best Contemporary Christian Music Album with Elevation Worship & Maverick City Music.

"Even up until the Grammy's, it's just the Lord showing me, 'You're not in control. I'm in control and whatever I want for your life will happen."

Overcoming a Traumatic Past

During the video interview, Bowe admits that three years ago he was homeless.

"Then I moved to Columbus and started living in a trailer that my pastor was paying for. I wrote a lot of my songs in that trailer."

Bowe was depressed during that time, as he thought nothing would come from the music he was writing.

However, on March 26, 2021, Bowe released his first full-length album after singing for years, called Circles. The album has 13 tracks, including the single 'Joyful' that won him a Dove Award.

Homelessness wasn't the only obstacle Bowe has had to overcome in his life.

"I was sexually abused at a young age and I had to navigate through my sexuality through that whole season. The Lord brought me out on the other side of that. Me and my grandmother talked about it at the Dove Awards, I took her to the Dove Awards."

Bowe says that God helped him get through the aftermath of his abuse. At 12-years-old, Bowe found out that his parents were drug dealers.

"They ended up stopping when I was 16," says Bowe. "I was going to church every Sunday, and I ended up getting saved and my mom got saved when I was 16. We ended up reading the Bible together."

The 64th Grammy Awards show was originally supposed to be in January this year in L.A. The event has been moved to Las Vegas on April 3.

Keeping busy, Bowe is going on tour starting March 31 until the end of May, with For King & Country on their What Are We Waiting For? tour. After that, he'll be headlining his own Circles tour.
