CPKC's assistant vice president of sales and marketing for Canadian grain has been on the road meeting with customers and talking about the new destinations CPKC serves.

Elizabeth Hucker says they now offer a single-line haul for mills and feeders in the southern U.S., gulf ports, and into Mexico.

"There are opportunities to move wheat, corn, and other products to those markets. Increased trade flows and economic growth, as well as really enhancing competition for shippers, all while lowering greenhouse gas emissions across the continent. We've already started to see wheat moving from Western Canada, all the way down to Mexico."

She's very excited about the opportunities that CPKC has from moving grain to bringing fertilizer in for the farm.

"The new CPKC network also opens the option to import products like nitrogen or phosphates through the river access and port access throughout the gulf."

Hucker points out that outlooks from the Fertilizer Institute have been positive, and fertilizer prices have continued to moderate or come down from the spikes we saw in 2022.
