The province provided another update on the novel coronavirus situation.

As of Thursday (Apr.9), Alberta has 1,451 confirmed cases, with 592 recoveries. Alberta Health Services believe 192 cases may have been caused by community transmission.

Three more deaths were reported; two women from the Calgary zone, one in her 60s and one in her 80s, as well as a man in his 70s from the Edmonton zone. This brings the death total to 32.

There have been no additional cases reported in the local area. One person has recovered in the County of Grande Prairie.

With the Easter weekend approaching, chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw stressed the importance of staying home, physical distancing and practicing good hygiene.

"As a doctor for the population, I know that the medicine of physical distancing that I'm currently prescribing is a bitter pill to swallow," said Hinshaw. "Remember that being isolated physically does not mean that we are alone."

She recommends facetiming or calling loved ones instead of attending family dinners, leaving leftovers at their doors and holding virtual egg hunts.

"We need to be mindful, now more than ever, that our actions carry consequences for all of us."
