Northern Health is pleased to advise that a COVID-19 outbreak at the North Peace Seniors Housing Society apartments in Fort St. John, BC is now limited to a single building in the complex, where outbreak measures are also being downgraded.

To date, there have been 15 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 associated with the outbreak; five of those cases remain active. Sadly, one resident associated with the outbreak passed away in November.

NH Medical Health Officers have declared the outbreak exposure risk over, for the complex’s Apartment Two building, as well as Apartments Three and Four -- and downgraded the outbreak declaration to precautionary, for Apartment One until one more COVID-19 incubation period has passed.

Northern Health and the North Peace Seniors Housing Society continue to work closely together to ensure COVID-19 prevention guidance and orders are followed, to protect the health of all residents and staff. All apartment residents in Apartment One are being asked to continue to self-monitor for symptoms as well as limit visitors, adhere to mask-wearing in public areas in the buildings and hallways, and reduce movement and interactions with others.

Following one more 14-day period during which Public Health will monitor for any new COVID-19 cases associated with the outbreak, it can be declared officially over.

Northern Health and the North Peace Seniors Housing Society wish to thank staff, residents and their families, for their patience, cooperation and support in recent weeks.
