This month meat processing facilities across North America have had to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak. The JBS plant in Brooks remains open, but is operating with one shift a day after the Cargill Plant in High River was closed due to the high number of employees with COVID-19. The Cargill plant is related to 484 cases of the virus. It was later reported that one worker related to the Cargill plant had died.

On Monday, the Government of Alberta confirmed that there were 67 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the JBS facility in Brooks.

According to JBS, they have implemented a number of preventative measures that include temperature screening employees, face masks worn in the facility, and increased cleaning and physical partitions on production lines.

One JBS worker has died although AHS is investigating to see if it's from COVID-19 or something else.
