Effective immediately, Township Road 740, between Range Road 93 and Range Road 94, has been closed due to flooding.

Fluctuating temperatures in recent days has allowed a significant amount of snow to melt causing water to flood the roadway.

A 50 per cent axle weight road ban remains in effect on all other County of Grande Prairie gravel roads 24 hours per day, until further notice.

The County has recently re-opened the following roads:

  • Township Road 724, between Range Road 30 and Range Road 31
  • Township Road 724A, from Highway 43 to Range Road 104

Motorists are urged to exercise caution on rural roads; not move or bypass barricades that are in place; nor travel on closed roads as there may be hidden hazards including washouts and erosion.

Staff continues to monitor the impacts of spring runoff and provide updates as information becomes available. Motorists should use extreme caution, especially during the night, as road conditions can change rapidly.
