Just before 10 a.m. this morning, crews from the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Clairmont and Dunes Stations, along with the Wembley Fire Department, responded to a structure fire near Dimsdale.

Upon arrival, crews found a fully engulfed shed and the fire had spread to an adjacent barn.

Crews worked quickly to attack the fire from the inside of the barn. Due to high winds and the rural location of the fire, an additional water tender was requested as mutual aid from the Grande Prairie Fire Department.

In addition to successfully bringing the fire under control, several dozen chickens were saved from inside the barn.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the County Fire Marshal.
