Monday, June 3, 2024 10:00 pm - Motorists are advised that single-lane traffic is now open on Emerson Trail (Highway 672) between Range Roads 93 and 95. The County Regional Fire hazardous materials crew has successfully completed the transfer of sour condensate from the overturned tanker on Emerson Trail (Highway 672) and Range Road 94.

The scene has been turned over to Alberta Environment and the trucking company to ensure remediation of the spill site is complete.  

Motorists are advised to continue to approach the area with caution, drive slowly, and follow the directions of the on-site flagging personnel who will remain on scene until the tanker truck is removed. Motorists can expect the road to be open in both directions soon.

UPDATE: Motorists are asked to continue to avoid the area of Emerson Trail (Highway 672) and Range Road 94 where the County Regional Fire hazardous materials crew continues their work to offload contents of the overturned tanker truck. No injuries have been reported. Emerson Trail is currently closed between Range Roads 93 and 95. 

Crews will remain on scene until the tanker’s contents have been transferred and the trailer and truck can be removed.  

Motorists can expect the road to remain closed until further notice.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area of Emerson Trail (Highway 672) and Range Road 94 where County Regional Fire crews from the Hythe, Clairmont, La Glace and Wembley stations are currently responding to a tanker truck rollover involving dangerous goods. No injuries have been reported. Emerson Trail is currently closed between Range Roads 93 and 95.

The tanker truck is carrying sour condensate, which is spilling from the tank. The County Regional Fire Service’s hazardous materials team is on scene mitigating the spill. At this time, the spill does not pose an immediate risk to the public.

Responders will be on the scene for an undermined period of time to mitigate the spill.
