The County of Grande Prairie Family and Community Support Services department has announced a family scavenger hunt to help keep residents busy and explore the region.

“With so many restrictions still in place due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we wanted to help people by providing a structured activity that they can do safely while still maintaining proper social distancing,” said Kathleen Turner, FCSS director. “The Scavenger Hunt is a great opportunity to test our residents’ knowledge of various sites and have some fun going outside and exploring the County.”

Starting Monday, May 25, the County will be releasing three clues each week for different destinations around the region. Clues will be shared via Facebook and Twitter and on the Scavenger Hunt page at countygp.ab.ca/scavengerhunt.

The final set of clues will be released Monday, June 29. Once all clues have been answered, residents can complete the entry form and be entered into a draw for a family activity gift basket. Deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

“County residents are encouraged to solve the clues, visit the site and take photos to share on social media using the scavenger hunt hashtag,” said Turner. “Entrants can also include the photos with their answers and each photo will given them an additional entry for the draw. We are hoping to have a great collection of photos of various sites from around the County at the end of the contest.”

Contest rules and information can be found at countygp.ab.ca/scavengerhunt. The contest is open to County of Grande Prairie residents only.
