Effective immediately, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service has lifted the fire ban.

Fire bans for the Towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith Wembley and the Village of Hythe will also be removed.

Regulations to protect the public and Regional Fire Service members will be in place, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and physical distancing measures for Fire Guardians performing site inspections for permit requests.

County Fire Marshal Ken Atamanchuk reminds the public that even though the ban has been lifted, residents have a role to play in keeping their communities safe.

“Make sure you have the proper permits in place before burning, and continue to follow safe burning practices,” said Atamanchuk.

Residents are reminded that during fire season a burn permit is required. Fire permits will once again be issued on request. Burning is not permitted when winds reach 12 km per hour or higher.
