After years of planning and engagement, a final draft of the North West Clairmont Area Structure Plan (ASP) is nearing completion.

The ASP will guide future development in an area within the Hamlet of Clairmont, north of Township Road 724 and west of Highway 2. The public are invited to attend an open house on Thursday, August 8 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wellington Resource Centre located in Clairmont Community School to provide feedback on the draft plan.

“We encourage anyone with questions, concerns or interest in the development of this area to attend,” said Planning and Development Services Director Nick Lapp. “We’ve spent time to ensure this plan will create an area of major employment and industrial development, while complimenting the neighbouring development.” The open house marks the third and final phase of the project, which will see public and stakeholder feedback considered while the plan is finalized, then presented to Council for Public Hearing.

ASPs provide a framework for the development of lands for commercial, industrial and residential purposes. ASPs also ensure that development is conducted in a manner that is consistent with the goals, objectives and policies of the County. They are prepared in accordance with the Municipal Government Act, Subdivision and Development

Regulation and the County’s Municipal Development Plan. Drafts of this ASP were previously presented to the public in 2015 and 2017.
