County Assessors will be travelling door-to-door in selected areas within the County boundaries starting Monday, March 2 until further notice, to conduct property re-inspections.

“County Assessors travel around during business hours, re-inspecting properties in selected areas checking that our assessment records are still accurate and up-to-date,” explained Chief Assessor Chris Gardner. “If no drastic changes have taken place at a property, or there has been a recent re-inspection, they likely won’t be visited.”

County assessors will be visiting properties within the Town of Wembley, Village of Hythe, as well as within Range 6 and Township 72, including a portion of the Hamlet of Clairmont and extending west.

Property re-inspection is a standard policy put in place by the provincial government that requires all Alberta municipalities perform ongoing re-inspections and complete overall inspections of all properties in a five-year term. The County assesses properties to determine their estimated market value annually, which is used to calculate property taxes.

County assessors will be wearing photo identification badges. If residents are not home, assessors may leave a door hangar with information to contact the Assessment department. Assessors may take exterior photos as part of the assessment process. If you have any questions, please contact the County Assessment department at 780-513- 3952.

All information collected during the re-inspection is subject to the Freedom of Information and Privacy of Protection Act.
