The County of Grande Prairie, in partnership with the Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA), invites residents to its Annual Recycling Roundup at the Bezanson School, located on 100 street, south of 100 avenue in Bezanson, on Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

Residents are encouraged to bring their household hazardous waste, including cleaners, chemicals, paint, batteries, used oil, propane tanks under 100 lbs and tires; and electronics including computer equipment, TVs, cell phones, appliances, power tools, toys, audio visual equipment, musical instruments, and more to be recycled and/or safely disposed of free-of-charge. Recycling bins for tin, paper, cardboard, glass, refundable bottles will also be available. Proceeds from refundable bottles will go towards the County’s Bottle Donation Program, which supports local non-profit and charitable organizations. 

Anyone who stops by with recyclables can enter to win prizes, including a Home Composter or a County Gift basket.  

“We all play a part in keeping recyclables and household waste out of our landfills,” said Dalen Peterson, Project & Regulatory Technologist for Public Works. “Residents are encouraged to come out to this year’s event in Bezanson to properly dispose of those items that may have been taking up space around your home or yard, as well as to learn more about the County’s great programs like expanded electronic recycling.”

The annual roundup event encourages residents to keep recyclable materials and hazardous waste out of landfills with free disposal at a fun, weekend event. With proper disposal, these items can be recovered and recycled to be returned into raw material used in the manufacturing process of new products. Many products get recycled into new paint, lubricant oils for the transportation industry, flooring for arenas, crumb for new playgrounds, new electronics, and more. 

County residents unable to attend the Recycling Roundup, can drop off hazardous waste and recyclable items free-of-charge to the Clairmont Centre for Recycling and Waste Management and other facilities during regular hours of operation.
