Grande Prairie City Council passed a motion September 10, 2018 initiating the competitive search for a City Manager with the assistance of an executive search firm.

Council also appointed Horacio Galanti, P.Eng. as the Interim City Manager effective September 29. Mr. Galanti will have the opportunity to participate in the competition for a permanent City Manager should he choose to do so.
“Bob made great strides in implementing a plan to support Council’s objective of creating an innovative and high-performing organization,” said Mayor Given. “Council has confidence in our leadership team’s ability to advance the established plan set out for the City and the organization.”
“Council is pleased that Infrastructure and Protective Services Director Horacio Galanti has agreed to take on the role of Interim City Manager, effective September 29th,” commented Mayor Given.

“The opportunities before the City of Grande Prairie are great, and we expect a number of external and internal candidates to seek this position,” said Mayor Given. “Council is confident in the current direction and in the best service of the community and the organization, we will conduct a competitive search to ensure we have the best candidate for City Manager.”
Current City Manager Bob Nicolay’s last day will be September 28.
