The staff of Grande Prairie Composite High School (GPCHS) figured out a creative way to help the graduation class of 2020 celebrate.

Today, they delivered a "grad in a bag" to each of them. In each bag is their 2020 Certificate of Achievement, their grad cap, a lawn sign recognizing them as a GPCHS graduate, a mini banner emblazoned with "You are the Skip Day Champions!", photo props to capture their familys' celebration, a secret garden key tag and plan and a commemorative flashlight and party poppers.

Dennis Vobeyda, GPCHS principal, shared, "Today, we celebrate you as we are incredibly #GPPSDProud of your resilience and positivity during this unprecedented time. You have shown the character that embodies what it means to be a member of the Grande Prairie Composite High School over and over again, and we commend you for your efforts. We know it is disappointing that you are missing out on your Commencement Ceremony that was originally scheduled. We too would rather be sharing in this moment in person and all together, but we are going to make the best of our current situation and make history as we celebrate this important milestone."

Graduates are encouraged to use the items in the bag to celebrate with their families and share photos using the hashtag #GPCompGrad2020.

"In closing, we would like to reiterate just how proud we are of you and your achievements. We miss you and look forward to seeing you again in the future! While you may not walk the halls as students, you will always be welcomed back as Composite High School family."
