The City of Grande Prairie is actively monitoring the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and is taking precautionary measures to prevent spread and prepare for the possibility of a confirmed case in our community.

The health, safety, and wellbeing of our residents and community is our priority.

The City is working closely with regional partners through the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP), Alberta Health Services, and other key service providers in our community.

Alberta Health Services are the best source of public health information. For regular updates on the pandemic, please visit alberta.ca/covid19.

City Operational Changes

The City has a business continuity plan to ensure core services including emergency services and transit continue to operate.

Additional measures such as enhanced cleaning protocols and communication on best practices for health and safety are also being implemented among staff across all of our facilities.

Any changes to services, events, and public venues will be posted on cityofgp.com.

To date, the following closures have occurred:

  • The Eastlink Centre and the Coca Cola Centre have been closed indefinitely to the public as an early precaution. This is in line with the provincial recommendation to cancel public gatherings of 250+ individuals. Full refunds will be available for cancellations and memberships will be paused.
  • The following events have been postponed at Revolution Place: Gord Bamford, “Tales from the Penalty Box” Storm Fundraiser, Rodney Carrington, Northern Rhythm Music Festival, and Baby Shark.
  • The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination event has ben cancelled.

The City of Grande Prairie is committed to regularly updating the community as we assess the situation.

The City thanks everyone for their understanding and urges residents to exercise caution and take care of themselves and others during this time.
