With the arrival of spring and the increasing number of residents and visitors enjoying the City's parklands, pathways, and trails, the City wishes to remind everyone about the appropriate use of personal transportation options (i.e., vehicles which the City’s Parkland Bylaw refers to as ‘Wheeled Conveyances’) in these areas.

Allowed wheeled conveyances include, both manual and electric bicycles, skateboards, scooters, as well as, inline skates or rollerblades, Segways, electric unicycles, hoverboards, and mobility devices such as wheelchairs. These vehicles are welcomed on the City's parklands, pathways, and trails when used responsibly and in accordance with the City's Parkland Bylaw.

However, to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all, certain vehicles are prohibited on the parklands, pathways, and trails, except where the operator has a permit for their use. These prohibited vehicles include Vespa-style scooters, GenZe scooters, Juiced Scramblers, CSC City Slickers, golf carts, golfboards, and similar vehicles designed for road traffic. Additionally, any gas or diesel-powered vehicles, including ATVs, dirt bikes, skidoos, cars, and trucks, are prohibited.

The City appreciates the cooperation of all residents and visitors in preserving the safety and beauty of our parkland, pathways and trails. For more information on the Parkland Bylaw or to inquire about wheeled conveyance use, please visit the City’s Bylaw webpage or contact 311.
