The City of Grande Prairie is pleased to announce the availability of a free community sandbox for residents to use during winter months to increase traction and help keep residential sidewalks safe and accessible.

The community sandbox is available at all hours at the City Service Centre (9505 112 Street) near the south end of 112 Street. Residents are welcome to take up to two, five-gallon buckets of sand per person for their personal use.

"We continually look for ways to serve the needs of our community and provide value to our residents," said Mayor Jackie Clayton. "We are optimistic this free community sandbox is a helpful resource for those looking to improve traction on their driveways and sidewalks during the winter months."

Residents are reminded that sidewalks adjacent to homes must be shovelled within 24-hours of the end of a snowfall to help promote a mobile and accessible community
