The City of Grande Prairie is offering an Aquatics New Hire Incentive Program where newly employed aquatics staff can be reimbursed up to $500 for advanced courses and certifications needed for these specialized positions.

The incentive aims to encourage community members to complete advanced aquatics certifications and apply for lifeguarding roles with the City of Grande Prairie.

It is a new program at the city and an excellent opportunity for residents in the Grande Prairie region to start a career in aquatics.

Joining the aquatics team with the city has many benefits including flexible schedules, professional development opportunities and competitive pay starting at $22.78 per hour for junior lifeguards. Aquatics is also a perfect work setting for those who love to be active and thrive in an energetic environment.

The city has actively recruited Eastlink Centre positions for the past several months to support increased demand for both aquatics and the facility. Program Requirements New lifeguarding staff can be reimbursed up to $500 if they remain employed with the City of Grande Prairie for a minimum of three months and complete their bronze level courses and National Lifeguard certification in 2022.

The Eastlink Centre is proud to be the northern hub for instructing National Lifesaving Society’s advanced aquatics courses. Courses and certifications at the Eastlink Centre are open for interested participants to start necessary training and begin their career as a lifeguard. Completing courses and certifications at the Eastlink Centre does not guarantee employment with the City of Grande Prairie.
