The 2018 census results and population analysis were received by City Council for information.

The report shows that Grande Prairie’s population is 69,088. 10.8% of the population is aged 30 to 34, creating the City’s largest age group.The majority of out-of-province residents migrated from British Columbia and Ontario.

In addition to a population growth, the census results report the total number of private dwellings in Grande Prairie is 31,851, which is up 914 from the 30,937 private dwellings recorded in the 2015 census.

"Even through challenging economic times like the last couple years, Grande Prairie's story continues to be one of growth and opportunity," said Bill Given, City of Grande Prairie Mayor. "Our City has nearly doubled in population since 2000 and it shows that our community is not only resilient but that we have a bright future ahead of us."
