The City of Grande Prairie extends a warm thank you to all of the attendees, partners, sponsors and supporters of the inaugural Grande North Winter Festival which took place January 14-16 for making it a successful kick-off to the new annual event.

Bonnetts Energy Centre had over 2000 ticketed guests attend the Ice Gardens to take-in the ice carving competition with the talented artists from Ice on Whyte and McBradshaw Woodworks, the ice bar, the Dark Flavour snowboarding pump track, Grande Prairie Storm games and live music from 14 local performers.

The Montrose Cultural Centre site had over 5000 guests enjoy the Aquatera Ice Slide, programming by the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie and Grande Prairie Public Library, Greenpath Energy Skating Oval, and live entertainment provided by Freshly Squeezed Entertainment.

Muskoseepi Park had over 1800 guests experience the Peace Draft Club horse and wagon rides, skating on the pond with lighting features, taffy-making from the Francophone Association of Grande Prairie and live entertainment provided by Freshly Squeezed Entertainment. 

The Grande North Winter Festival was made possible through generous support from community partners and sponsors, including the Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association, Sandman Hotel Grande Prairie, Aquatera, Greenpath Energy, Dark Flavour and the DownTown Association.

The city thanks everyone for the support and looks forward to start planning for next year’s event.
