The City of Dawson Creek is inviting residents to guide the future of the community by participating in the update of the Dawson Creek Official Community Plan.

This plan guides city decision-making, policies and investments in areas such as land use, infrastructure, transportation, housing, environment, arts and culture, parks and economic development.

From now through the fall of 2024, the City will be inviting community members to get involved and provide input that will help staff update the Official Community Plan. The City aims to understand the community’s current vision, values and priorities to ensure that they are reflected in the updated Official Community Plan.

“Since the Official Community Plan was adopted in 2018, our city has grown and changed. We need an updated Official Community Plan that reflects what our community looks like now and what we want for the future,” says Mayor Darcy Dober. “Community engagement will play a crucial role in updating this important document. I encourage all community members to get involved and make their voices heard.”

The City is also inviting residents to participate in a Family Fun Night on April 25, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts - 10401 10 St.

This fun-filled evening will feature family friendly games, crafts, face painting, food and refreshments.

Additionally, residents will have the opportunity to share their vision for Dawson Creek in 2045, provide feedback and input on a variety of topics and connect with the project team.

Questions about the process, the engagement sessions or the family fun night can be directed to ocp@dawsoncreek.ca.
