The Grande Prairie City Council voted against allocating $250,000 from the SCORES Capital Funding to the St. John Paul II Performing Arts Centre Storage Project. The storage facility would be for storing props, equipment and sets for the Centre.

If the funding had been approved, it would have required the Catholic School Board to match the Capital Funding from other sources.

The St. John Paul II Performing Arts Centre was designed to be used for a variety of community-run programs.

"The overall goal of the Centre is to celebrate and enhance the Arts’ culture within the region while providing students and the community with unique opportunities to learn, perform, and develop their abilities." (St. John Paul II).
