The City of Grande Prairie is inviting the community to its annual Canada Day celebrations sponsored by New Horizon Co-op at Muskoseepi Park on July 1 including carnival rides, games, live entertainment and fireworks.
Residents are invited to show their pride in red and white and celebrate at these free and fun-filled festivities.
Muskoseepi Park will be booming with activities for residents to enjoy on July 1 from 2:30 p.m. to midnight.
“The City is proud to host our traditional Canada Day celebrations every year. This year we are particularly excited to see the full return of our Canada Day parade,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We encourage local businesses and organizations to submit entries into the parade and look forward to greeting everyone young and old at the parade, Muskoseepi Park festivities and firework finale over the reservoir.”
Celebrations kick-start with the return of the Canada Day parade beginning at 1 p.m.
The parade travels from 108 Avenue in Hillside and ends at the Leisure Centre parking lot at 2:30. Residents can attend Muskoseepi Park after the parade where there will be bouncy castles, food trucks, live entertainment, carnival-themed games and carnival rides. Parade applications can be found at cityofgp.com/CanadaDay.
Live entertainment is being featured at the amphitheater with 2DayFM attending for a live on location.
The Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool is open from noon to 5 p.m. for drop-in swimming.
To cap off the evening, the City returns to its traditional main fireworks display setting off at 11:30 p.m. from the reservoir at Muskoseepi Park to finish the celebrations with a bang.
Residents are asked to follow all temporary traffic control persons and signage in place for the parade and at Muskoseepi Park.
