Grande Prairie - Citizens in the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview and the surrounding area are invited to weigh in with their opinions on what’s working well in their community and what they feel can be improved to enhance community well-being. The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta’s 2019 Vital Signs® survey, launched today, gives local residents, business owners and students an opportunity to voice their opinion about what they feel is most critical to quality of life in the region.

The 2019 Vital Signs survey is part of the Northwestern Alberta’s Vital Signs project, which combines public opinion with statistics to provide a snapshot of community vitality in the region. The Community Foundation will publish survey results and statistics on a number of issue areas in an easy-to-read report to be released in October.

The report informs citizens, organizations, community leaders and government on citizen priorities, as well as up-to-date statistics on our local quality of life. Vital Signs serves as a guide for donors, agencies, government, businesses and the community at large, inspiring informed decision-making and providing valuable insight into the area’s strengths and areas of need, and where to best target resources.

“For communities to make effective decisions and take effective action on community well-being, it’s important to understand the priorities and concerns of the people who live and work here,” says Community Foundation CEO Tracey Vavrek. “The survey gives citizens a chance to have a voice in shaping their community.”

Vital Signs is a biennial community “check-up” measuring community vitality in this Northwestern Alberta region. It identifies significant trends in 11 key areas including arts, culture and recreation; transportation, health; learning; housing and homelessness; sense of belonging; and the environment, to name just a few.

The survey is open to citizens ages 15 and over. To access the survey visit: www.buildingtomorrowtoday.com.
