From Lecrae to Franklin Graham, Christians leaders are asking fans to pray for the families impacted by the plane crash that killed an NBA star and others.

On Sunday, foggy conditions contributed to the helicopter crash outside of Los Angeles that killed former NBA star Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven other people.  It's expected to take days for authorities to complete the recovery of debris.

The 41-year-old was a well-decorated athlete. With the Lakers, he won five NBA titles, as well as two Olympic gold medals playing for the United States. According to reports, he was on his way to a basketball game with his daughter when the helicopter crashed.

Christian rapper Lecrae shared a prayer with fans following the news saying, "Lord We pray for the Bryant family. We pray for all those affected. We pray for the other families of those in the helicopter. We ask that your Spirit would be a comforter. In Jesus' name."

Pastor and author Craig Groeschel, spoke out as well on Twitter asking for prayers. "Such a tragedy. Praying for God’s presence and comfort for Kobe’s family.”

Franklin Graham also shared his condolences on social media reminding followers to take note of how easily this life is lost and to always be ready.

"Our deepest condolences and prayers for the families of NBA-great Kobe Bryant, his 13-yr-old daughter, and the other victims in this tragic helicopter crash in California today. Please remember them in your prayers.

"Anytime there is a tragedy like this, it is a reminder of the brevity of life and that none of us know when we are going to have to stand before God and give an account for our lives. Are you ready?" Graham says.

Kirk Franklin and many others also shared their condolences. Many expressed their shock upon hearing the news and shared prayers for the families.

Bryant leaves behind a legacy that is respected beyond his sport which is seen from the mass somber reaction to his death.
