Thanks to incredible community generosity last holiday season Odyssey House in Grande Prairie was able to provide gifts, groceries, and holiday items for 77 families in the Grande Prairie area.

Executive Director, Lisa Watson, says they hope to receive the same amount of support as last year or more. "We're looking at supporting around that same amount this year."

One mother commented, “This (program) made the difference in being able to stay on track and still provide my children with the Christmas experience they deserve. Thank you to those who made this possible.”

Odyssey House relies on community generosity to help those in need in our community. For many years they have reached out to the community members of Grande Prairie to adopt a single mother family in need during the Christmas season.

This year they are continuing to strive to help families in need, once again, by announcing the Adopt-a-Family Christmas program for the 2021 holiday season.

They hope to find groups and organizations willing to donate gifts and grocery gift cards to a family (a mother and her children) who otherwise may not be able to celebrate the holidays with a home cooked meal and gifts under their tree.

If you are interested in sponsorship, let them know your preference so they can match you up with an appropriate family. Once you have been matched with a family, they will send you a unique identifier and some information about their interests, hobbies, clothing size, gender, and age so you can personalize the gifts they receive under the tree on Christmas morning.

If you are interested in supporting a family or have any questions about the program, contact Nancy at reception@odysseyhouse.ca or call 780-538-1332 ext. 101.
