The community is invited to join the City of Grande Prairie on September 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Two Decades of Twin Ice celebration at the Design Works Centre, recognizing the facility’s 20-year anniversary.

“Over the last 20 years, the Twin Ice Arenas experienced many highlight events and accomplishments including hosting the 2022 Grand Slam of Curling, 2010 Arctic Winter Games, 2017 Hockey Alberta Day and 2006 Oilers Training Camp,” said Mayor Jackie Clayton. “We’re excited to celebrate this incredible milestone at one of the City’s pillar ice sport facilities that has meant so much to our community, and look ahead to its continued success.”

The event includes a free community barbecue starting at 11 a.m., while supplies last, and free activities taking place throughout the day including:

·       Colouring contest.

·       Public skate and stick & puck times.

·       Visitors can try different ice sports including speed skating, sledge hockey and ringette.
