Travel restrictions between Canada and the United States at the land border remain in place since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The land border between the two countries remains closed except for essential travel.

In March, the federal government introduced limits to travel between the two countries in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The United States remains one of the countries with the highest rates of infection from COVID-19 in the world.

Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair, disclosed the information in a tweet. “We are extending non-essential travel restrictions with the United States until November 21st, 2020. Our decisions will continue to be based on the best public health advice available to keep Canadians safe.”
