Campground reservations for Jasper National Park opened this morning, April 9.

People can reserve sites at Wapiti, Wabasso, and Pocahontas campgrounds on-line at reservation.pc.gc.ca or by calling 1-877-RESERVE (1-877-737-3783). All other campgrounds operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Whistlers campground is still closed for reconstruction but is expected to reopen this summer. A date has not been set, but reservations will open sometime in June.

Whistlers is Jasper’s largest campground, with 781 campsites.

Parks Canada says that, “When Whistler’s Campground reopens, visitors will be greeted with a new registration centre, 18 new combined washroom and shower facilities throughout the campground, improved campsites, and wider roads for two-way traffic. Underground services, including water, sewer and electrical systems are also being replaced and existing campsites will be equipped with more 50 Amp capable power sites.”

Parks Canada says that demand for campgrounds is highest from June to September, with July and August the busiest months. They recommend making a reservation before coming to the park to avoid disappointment.
