Grande Prairie RCMP have recently received multiple reports from residents who have received phone calls from individuals claiming to be the Canada Revenue Agency.  In these cases, suspects are calling individuals over the phone claiming to represent the CRA, pressuring the individual to divulge personal information and in some cases, requesting money from individuals or indicating the police will arrest them if they don't pay.

RCMP are advising the public to be aware of these types of incidents.  Here are a few safety tips to assist;

  • Do not share personal information over the phone.
  • Be aware of unsolicited calls.
  • Don't feel pressured to make a quick decision.
  • Find the actual phone number through a trusted source and call the department directly.
  • Be aware of your own personal situation.
