A boil water advisory is now in effect until further notice for the residents in the Town of Sexsmith. 

Residents for the Town of Sexsmith will need to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for the following purposes: drinking, brushing teeth or rinsing mouth, cleaning raw foods, preparing infant formula or juices and making ice etc. 

Water used for bathing or washing clothes does not need to be boiled. It can also be used to wash hands, provided soap is used, followed by applying an alcohol-based sanitizer containing more than 60 per cent alcohol. 

Customers may choose to purchase bottled water for consumption for the duration of this advisory. 

UPDATE: Potable water is available for Town of Sexsmith residents at the following locations:

  • Sexsmith Fire Hall – available as of 9 p.m. on October 27, 24 hours a day until further notice.
  • Sexsmith Arena – available as of 6:30 p.m. on October 28, 24 hours a day until further notice.

Residents can bring their own containers and access up to five gallons (19 litres) of water per household.

Water has been delivered to essential service providers in the Town of Sexsmith to support them at this time, including the educational facilities and seniors’ facilities. Members of Aquatera’s team are also working diligently to contact all Town of Sexsmith customers directly to provide information and resources to those who require additional support to access water.
