As part of Alberta’s Recovery Plan the Town of Beaverlodge was awarded funding for a Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) project to create jobs and improve core infrastructure in the community.

A $2,204,748.00 provincial grant was received by the Town to upgrade the water treatment plant and it will create 13 jobs in the community.

Gary Rycroft, Mayor for The Town of Beaverlodge, says, “This funding is for the second phase of our water treatment plant upgrades, which are badly needed as our water treatment plant is over 30 years old. This second phase of upgrades will benefit our community by ensuring our water supply is safe and secure for the next 40 years.”

Alberta’s government has invested about $150 million to support 55 water and wastewater improvement projects creating approximately 1,300 jobs.

Travis Toews, MLA for Grande Prairie-Wapiti, says, “This is among many projects announced that will put Albertans to work. These are also projects that will ensure residents will have the necessary infrastructure right now and into the future.”
