The Battleship Mountain wildfire is classified as Out of Control.

Smoke and haze are visible throughout much of British Columbia today. These conditions are expected to continue through the next few days. Improvements will depend on atmospheric conditions and the smoke output from the fires around the province.

The east flank of the fire is approximately 4 kilometers from the WAC Bennett Dam and 8 Kilometers from the District of Hudson’s Hope. The leading edge is from the ignition operations that occurred on September 11 which is located on a control line. Crews and equipment will be working hard to achieve containment on the leading edge on the east flank.

Areas on the south flank of the fire are still displaying aggressive fire behaviour and is expected continued to over the coming days.

Personnel conducted a successful planned ignition operation on September 10 and 11. The ignition operation allowed crews to gain a defensive advantage by removing fuel between control lines and free burning edge of the wildfire to better reinforce containment lines for the coming days of expected aggressive fire behaviour.
