On Dec. 30, B.C. reported 485 new cases of COVID-19 from 6,785 tests for 7,551 active cases in the province.  

Right now, 379 people are hospitalized, with 77 of these in intensive care. Eleven new deaths were reported, for a total of 893 since the start of the pandemic.  

There's been 41,681 recoveries total. 

Of the new cases, 84 are in the Northern Health region, from 277 tests completed. There are 582 active cases in the region and 1,357 total recoveries. Currently, 47 are hospitalized with 16 in critical care. There’s been a total of 26 deaths. 

There’s now been 14, vaccinated for COVID-19 in B.C. and the Moderna vaccine will arrive in the province this week. The first doses are targeted for remote and isolated First Nations communities and residents of long term-care and will be expanding to other communities soon. 

“We want 2021 to be our year of success with COVID-19. This means taking a step back and keeping our focus on what is most important right now: the health and safety of everyone in our province. 

Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, urge British Columbians to do what they can to protect their communities. 

“This is our last chance to make a difference this year. We recognize the sacrifices you have all made and we thank you for continuing to do your part.”
