Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.'s provincial health officer, issued a joint statement in COVID-19 in B.C. yesterday, Aug. 5.  

They reported 47 new cases in the province for an active total of 351 and 3,288 recoveries. Nine people are in the hospital with six of these in intensive care. There’s been no new deaths. 

There’s been no new case in the Northern Health region, and the area has 16 active cases and 75 recoveries.  

“As COVID-19 remains in our communities, so does the anxiety and stress that comes with the uncertainty, the increased isolation and the need to take precautions in everything we do.” 

They express concern specifically for younger people, who may not understand why things have changed so much. or youth who may be struggling, the Kids Help Phone is available by phone at 1 800 668-6868, text and online and at Kidshelpphone.ca.

“We remind people to take the time to check in with your friends, family and neighbours, young and old, to provide a mental health boost and to ensure they have the support we all need – especially for those who may be self-isolating.”
