Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, issued a joint statement on the COVID-19 response in British Columbia.

From June 12 to June 13, there were 14 new cases. From June 13 to June 14, 16 cases. In the last 24 hours, they have had a further six new cases. There are now 2,745 in the province, with 182 active and 2,395 people recovered. There have been 65 cases in the Northern Health Region, 64 of which have recovered.

Currently, 13 individuals are hospitalized with four of these in intensive care. There have been no new deaths and the total remains at 168.

There were no new outbreaks reported and the outbreaks at South Granville Park Lodge and the Kearl Lake industrial site were declared over. Four continuing care facilities outbreaks and five community outbreaks continue to receive support from public health.

“We ask British Columbians to not lose sight of the immense effort that we have all put into staying safe and remember that many people have experienced severe illness, and many families have lost loved ones. We must remember there is no treatment and no vaccine for COVID-19, which means the virus will be in our communities for a long time to come.”

Public health is trying to slow COVID-19 down by slowly easing restrictions and keeping measure in place.

“We have learned where COVID-19 spreads and we don’t have to look far to see that when left unchecked, a small cluster can quickly surge into multiple super-spreading events. This is a seed we do not want to grow.

“We can see a small number of friends, we can travel within B.C., and we can protect our communities. To do this, we must continue to stand together and support each other as we move forward.”
