Alberta has added 430 new cases of COVID-19 today (Feb. 24), from 9,467 tests completed for a positivity rate of about 4.5%.

Right now, 4,545 cases are active in the province. With 388 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 125,622.

There’s 307 people in the hospital with the virus, with 56 of these in intensive care. This is 19 fewer hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and five more ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 39 people in the hospital with four of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported 13 more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 1,866 since the start of the pandemic.

Twenty-two more variant cases of COVID-19 have been found, for a total of 323. The North Zone had its first variant case added today, of the U.K. variant. There have been 140 found in the Calgary Zone, 115 in the Edmonton Zone, 67 in the Central Zone and zero in the South Zone.

There have now been 186,572 vaccine doses administered.

In the City of Grande Prairie, 11 new cases were added, and 21 people recovered. The active total is 221 with 1303 recoveries. Grande Prairie also added another death, a woman in her 70s linked to the outbreak at Prairie Lakes Seniors Living. This is the 22nd COVID-related death in the City.

In the County of Grande Prairie, six new cases were added today, and five people recovered. There’s now 44 active cases and 380 recoveries.
